SHIFTER KNOB FITMENT GUIDE
When it comes to upgrading or replacing your gear stick knob, there are several important factors to consider. Vehicle manufacturers use a wide range of gear stick designs, and compatibility can vary significantly from one model to another. The most common variation is between threaded and non-threaded gear stick rods. Currently we accommodate for threaded shifter knobs only.
AVAILABLE SIZES
Many vehicles—particularly those with manual transmissions—feature a threaded gear stick rod, which allows the gear knob to simply screw on. However, the thread size (both diameter and pitch) differs between makes and models. To accommodate the majority of threaded applications in aussie 4wds, our gear knob comes supplied with three of the most commonly used adapter sizes:
M8 x 1.25 / M10 x 1.25 / M12 x 1.25
These adapters cover a wide range of vehicles and should provide a secure fit for most gear sticks that use a threaded design. We have a fitment guide below that outlines some of the more common vehicles these adapters will fit.
That said, some 4x4s utilize a non-threaded gear stick rod, where the original knob is press-fit or glued in place. For these vehicles, a different approach is required. We currently do not have adapters for this style of gear stick, but will be developing a solution in the near future.
Furthermore, our adapters and gear stick knobs are not compatible with vehicles that feature a pull-up reverse lockout mechanism (many newer Rangers, D-Max’s, BT-50s have this).
